SWARAN JAYANTI SHAHARI ROZGAR YOJANA (SJSRY)

 The Swaran Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana, announced by GOI in September 1997 seeks to provide gainful employment to the urban unemployed poor through encouraging setting up of self employment  ventures or provision of wage employment. It shall consist of two schemes:

(1)    The Urban Self-Employment Programme (USEP).

(2)    The Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP). USEP will have three distinct components:

v       Assistance to individual urban poor beneficiaries for setting up gainful employment ventures

v        Development of Women and Children in Urban Area (DWCUA).

v       Training for upgradation and acquisition of vocational and entrepreneurial skills. Banks will be concerned with component

q       Above, the guidelines are-Only those identified and listed on the basis of survey lists prepared by the ULBs. Urban poor living below the poverty line, in any urban centre. Annual family income of less than Rs. 11850 at the 1991-92 prices. Residing in the town for atleast 3 years. Should not be defaulter to any nationalized bank/financial institutions/cooperative banks.
