Schemes--> Self Help Group Scheme

As an alternative to the Govt. jobs, for the unemployed engineers (Degree/Diploma) the State Govt. launched a novel scheme during the year 2003 for providing gainful sources of employment by allotting work contracts to these unemployed engineers in various engineering/developmental related departments of the State. The first meeting in this regard was held on 6-8-03 under the chairmanship of the then Hon’ble Chief Minister where the Administrative heads of  various departments participated.  The Hon’ble Chief Minister directed the Employment Department to formulate a Self Help Group a comprising of 5 to 10 members. Accordingly the Directorate of Employment devised the following guidelines for formation of Self Help Groups:-

1. The number of members of Self Help Groups should not be less than 5    and not more than 10.

2.  The Self Help Groups should be registered with the Registrar of Firms      (Director I&C) as firm.

 3.  Registration as Self Help Group with Deputy Director Employment.

 4. Members should necessarily be diploma (minimum 3 yeas) or degree  holders in Engineering.

5. None of the members or the group leader should be employed elsewhere.

6.  The members of the Group should not be enlisted in more than one Self   Help Group in the same District  or some other District.

7.  All original documents to be verified by officer incharge personally.

8. Conditions are fulfilled the group would be registered as Self Help   Group and Identity card issued.

9. The Group (Firm) would then be registered as contractor with the PWD  Department.

 338 Self Help Groups comprising of 2018   Engineers have been formulated as on ending March, 2005 and forwarded to various developmental Departments for work allotment Till date work allotment to the tune of  Rs.2515.30   lacs in favour of various Self Help Groups in the State has been allotted.
